- Specializes

- Began career
with LIMRA International, a financial services “think
tank.”
- Created several best-selling LIMRA sales and management
publications and launched and edited MarketFacts,
a monthly strategy magazine for insurance and financial services
executives.
- Spearheaded LIMRA’s national media relations, managing its “State
of the Union” media briefings and placing stories in
national news outlets, including The Wall Street Journal,
the New York Times, Consumer Reports,
and Money.
- Became independent financial writer and editor, producing articles, books, and training content for Consumer’s Digest, Financial Planning, Longman Financial Services Institute (now Kaplan Financial),
and others.
- After merging company with leading
financial services management-consulting firm, created new firm’s
Learning and Marketing Tools practice.
- Managed projects designed
to increase sales productivity at more than 25 large financial
institutions, including life and health insurers, employee
benefit carriers, and retirement-product firms.
- Led the firm’s
marketing effort, launching several new products and supervising
new-business proposal teams that generated six-figure consulting
engagements.
- Currently
runs Avanza Communications.
- Develops consumer and distributor marketing content for large companies such as Marsh, Ameriprise Financial, Prudential Financial, HealthNow
New York, and Kaplan Financial (formerly Dearborn Publishing).
- Serves
as a communications advisor and content writer/editor for management-consulting
firms, entrepreneurial ventures, publishers, healthcare, and
technology clients.
- Serves as chief communications and content strategist for the National Ethics Bureau,
a membership organization of financial professionals who have successfully passed a comprehensive background check and have agreed to maintain NEB's membership standards. In this capacity, builds resources that help financial advisors to grow their business with integrity and consumers to stay safe in the financial services marketplace.
